Ana was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil. She earned a degree in Elementary School Education and subsequently taught for two years. A member of the Zionist Youth Movement "Habonim-Dror" since childhood, Ana married, made Aliyah to Israel in 1982, and lived on a kibbutz for 13 years. In 1988, she earned her B. Ed in Pre-School and Elementary Education from The Kibbutzim College in Tel-Aviv, and upon graduation taught for 10 years as a Pre-School teacher in the Kibbutz and for 11 years as an Elementary and Middle School Teacher in the town of Beer Yaakov, where she taught Hebrew, History and Technology. Ana went on to earn an M.A. in Art Therapy from the Israeli branch of the Leslie College in Boston as well as another M.A. in Educational Technology from Bar-Ilan University. In 2005 Ana came to the US with her husband and children, and worked as a Hebrew teacher at The Solomon Schechter School of Westchester and Carmel Academy in Greenwich, CT. She holds an MA in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Academy in NY. Currently, Ana is the Hebrew Learning Specialist at Rodeph Sholom Day School in Manhattan and the PJC Education Director. Ana is married to Ariel "Neco" Turkienicz and they have two grown children.
