Pelham Jewish Center Weekly Services
Shabbat Services on Saturday Mornings
Our weekly Shabbat morning service is liturgically traditional and egalitarian. It features spirited singing and prayer, the weekly chanting of the parsha (section of the Torah read each Shabbat) and haftarah, and an informal Torah study discussion. Everyone is welcome regardless of background. Each service is followed by a Kiddush luncheon during which congregants and guests continue the discussion of the Torah Study, catch up with friends, meet new people, and nosh on bagels and lox.
Shabbat morning services start at 9:30 am.
Friday Night Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv Services
The Pelham Jewish Center offers weekly Shabbat services on Friday night. These Kabbalat Shabbat services involve singing and at times, dancing, using both traditional melodies and Carlebach niggunim (tunes). The service is egalitarian and liturgically traditional. It offers a chance to leave behind the stresses of the previous week and enter a space of timelessness and joy.
Friday night services start at 6:30 pm.

Weekly Minyan On Tuesdays at 7 AM
The morning minyan offers all the opportunity for early morning prayer, followed by breakfast with Rabbi Schuck and other PJC daveners. This is a wonderful way to open our awareness in preparation for the day, and fulfills our uniquely Jewish identity and covenant.
The Minyan Always Needs Alternates.
Alternates are individuals, who fill in for a regular minyan participant, who is unable to attend the Tuesday morning minyan. Rhonda Singer calls alternates on Monday nights, in an effort to gather 10 people for the next morning's minyan. If you have interest in adding you name to the alternate list, would you let Rhonda S. know? You can contact her at (914) 738-7831. Thank you!
What Happens With The Minyan in Bad Weather?
Per Rabbi Schuck and our President, Steve M., we will follow a policy of cancelling minyan if the Pelham schools are either delayed or closed due to inclement weather. So, please listen to local radio and tv stations on any weather-challenged Wednesday, and if schools are delayed or closed, minyan will be cancelled.
The Future of Our Minyan
The Pelham Jewish Center is looking to establishing a daily morning minyan. We have started this process with a morning minyan that meets at 7 AM every Tuesday. We will expand the morning minyan services through the addition of more days over time. Stay tuned for additional days! Contact our Religious Practices Chair, Roger K. if you want additional details, or email office@thepjc.org or call (914) 738-6008.
